Supermarket Collection Volunteers Needed At present we require volunteers to help on the following dates and venues (More dates to follow):SUPERSTORE COLLECTION DATES 2008 Monday 23rd June: Morrisons (Eastwood) Tuesday 24th June: Morrisons (Eastwood) Wednesday 25th June: Morrisons (Eastwood) Monday 11th August: ASDA (Sutton in Ashfield) Type of Activity: We require volunteers who are able to collect for us for a minimum of 2 hours on any one collection date and a maximum of a whole day depending on the volunteer’s preference. The volunteers will always be working with another team member when collecting. The collecting involves standing or sitting holding a NRSB collection pot, wearing a smile. Recruitment Method We will take volunteers on for the supermarket collections on a flexible basis, in that you can choose which collections you want to participate in. We like all our volunteers to fill out a Volunteer Application Form and all applicants will be subject to a CRB Check as you will be handling money. Skills: To be pleasant and approachable. If you would like to become a Supermarket Collection Volunteer please call Vicki on 0115 9706806 or email vickis@nrsb.org.uk for an application form. back to top Home Visitor / Befriender To visit/befriend a vision impaired person.Tasks- · To visit a vision impaired person on a mutually agreed basis. · If required: to read and assist with correspondence. · To befriend and assist with any minor tasks. · Specifically requested NOT to carry out home help duties. · To pass all queries regarding additional support to volunteer co-ordinator. · To maintain service users confidentiality as a priority. · To submit record of visits and to attend organised meetings and ongoing training events. · To call NRSB on arrival & when departing from address of visit. · If you are a driver & plan to take the service user out, we advise that you inform your insurance company first. Training will be provided to enable you to perform this role with confidence- · Induction training · Ongoing training as identified and as required back to top Youth Group Volunteer Aim - To work alongside NRSB staff in running the Youth Group; which takes place weekly , at the Southglade Leisure CentreTasks - ·Ranging from setting up / putting away equipment. ·Participating in activities Application by application form available NRSB 0115 9706806. You must be aged 18 yrs & over, fun loving, with an outgoing personality, able to work well in a team, communicate well and work in an equal opportunities framework. Training will be provided, including visual awareness training and all volunteers are fully insured under the Charities Policy. Travel expenses are available. back to top Volunteer Car / Minibus Drivers Aim - To help transport Service Users to and from NRSB groups.Tasks ·To drive Service Users to and from NRSB groups throughout Nottinghamshire. You must be aged 18 yrs & over, with a clean driving licence, be able to work well in a team as well as on own initiative, communicate well and work within an equal opportunities framework. A good knowledge of Nottinghamshire is desirable but not essential. Relevant training will be available, including visual awareness training and all volunteers are fully insured under the Charities Policy. Petrol Allowance is available. back to top Shop Volunteer Aim - To assist with the running of the NRSB charity shops. We currently have opportunities in our Radford and Stapleford shops.Tasks - · Include sorting of clothes. · Handling of money. · Customer Services. However we will be looking to recruit someone who has experience of shop work, although this is not essential, and can work within an equal opportunities framework and communicate well. Travel expenses are available. back to top Link Service Volunteer based Function:To provide support and advice to newly visually impaired patients attending the Eye Outpatients Clinic at the Queens Medical Centre. Patients may be upset, confused, and frightened in this situation and the volunteer will offer a listening ear and provide useful practical information for patients. The volunteer may also visit patients admitted to the Ophthalmology wards. Commitment: Minimum 3 hours a week. Days are flexible. The Clinic is open in three hour shifts and volunteers are required to cover all shifts throughout the week. back to top IT Volunteer Aim - To assist Service Users to learn basic I.T. skills. Ranging from touch-typing to Internet use.Tasks - · Support Service Users in their learning of basic I.T. skills. · To keep records of sessions (ie. Who attended and who did what). Application ? Training will be provided to enable you to perform this role with confidence ? · Induction training. · Ongoing training as identified and as required. · Travel expenses are available. back to top Volunteer Radio Equipment Distributor The NRSB is the local agent for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF), a charitable organisation which provides radio equipment to registered blind / severely sight impaired and partially sighted / sight impaired people. As the agent, it is the NRSB's responsibility to deliver, demonstrate and provide radio equipment on permanent loan to registered people who fall within certain criteria. Due to demand, a vacancy has arisen for a volunteer distributor.Main duties and responsibilities · to ensure service users fall within the criteria set by the BWBF for providing radios etc on permanent loan · to drive to service users? homes · to demonstrate BWBF equipment effectively to visually impaired people · to accurately complete application forms · to input relevant data into database · to collect faulty radios and provide replacements when necessary · to carry out simple checks on radios before declaring them faulty · to post faulty radios for repair when appropriate · to monitor and order stock when necessary Requirements · excellent communication skills with all ages · willingness to attend relevant training · willingness to follow relevant procedures / criteria set by the BWBF · to liaise with social services / service users / service users families or carers etc where necessary · hold a UK driving licence and own car back to top Administration Assistant Tasks· To answer and make telephone calls. · Update volunteer files. · Maintain volunteer database. · Assist in creating, updating and despatching monthly Newsletter. · Processing volunteer expenses forms. · Assist in interviewing potential new volunteers. · Assist in support of volunteers. · Assist in marketing of volunteer opportunities.
