NRSB Knights Update 2

Update

NRSB Knights Visually Impaired Cricket Team continually grew stronger during the 2009 summer season. In September the team took part in their first Inter-County Cricket competition for new, emerging players and teams. The competition, run by the Northern Visually Impaired Cricket Board, and supported by NRSB and the University of Nottingham proved to be a resounding success with everyone who took part.

Development Tournament

The first of its kind to be held in the North of the country saw teams from the North-East, Yorkshire, Hampshire, Northants and of course our very own NRSB Knights. Well done to all the players who took part and everyone who supported the team on the day.

Next Step

The next step for the Knights in 2010 sees further partnership development with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club (NCCC). In 2009 NCCC provided tickets for the Knights and NRSB service users to use the new Audio Commentary Service; which is now available at the Trent Ground during all domestic county cricket games.

Trent Bridge

The County Cricket Board are assisting development of the team by providing indoor net space at Trent Bridge for the NRSB Knights to use for winter training. We are also delighted to welcome some top class coaches to support the session in the form of Martyn Dobson (NCCC Community Development Officer) and Jenny Gunn (England Women’s Cricket and NCCC Coach).

New Players

NRSB’s partnership with the North Visually Impaired Cricket Board (NVICB) is continuing to increase opportunities for Blind and Visually Impaired individuals to participate in cricket throughout Nottinghamshire.  NRSB Knights has a nucleus of players, but are looking to recruit visually impaired people of all genders, age, sight levels, experience and locations to help our team grow.
